For over 25 years, I have been teaching Modern Book Publishing and Librarianship at Simmons University, explaining the book publishing process and how it intersects with the work of librarians. I also teach a course in the History of Children's Book Publishing. Both courses explore the book creation process in all its complexity and grow out of my expertise of 45 years in publishing. I have served as both Editor of Horn Book Magazine and Vice-President and Publisher of Children's Books at Houghton Mifflin. Today I work as a writer, exploring the history of individual books and write critical volumes —& 100 Best Books for Children& and& Everything I Need to Know I Learned from a Children's Book. In my courses I explore the book creation process in all its complexity.
