Twelve undergraduate scholars from different disciplines have been selected to join the Summer Undergraduate Research Program at Simmons (SURPASs), a highly competitive, fully funded research and mentorship program. During this six week intensive, students will work with a faculty mentor to execute an independent research project of their own design and development.

Since 1996, the Office of Student Life has bestowed the Charlotte Mae Morocco Award upon an exceptional graduating senior. This particular honor recognizes an individual “who has shown a strong commitment through positive contributions to the Simmons community. The award recipient is successful in their academic and co-curricular efforts; is sensitive to the value of diversity within the Simmons community; and is self-confident, skillful, creative, and compassionate.” Psychology major Caitlin P. Curry ’24 is this year’s awardee.

Sophia Moore ’24 is one of the first Simmons students to complete the initial portion of the accelerated 3+2 Engineering program. Having obtained her first bachelor’s degree from Simmons, this fall she will relocate to the New York metropolitan area to pursue her second bachelor’s degree at Columbia University.

Stephanie Wladkowski ’14PhD was a clinical social worker in hospice care when policy changes impacted her clinical practice. In a search for answers, Wladkowski began her PhD in Social Work at Simmons. Her dissertation, “Dementia Caregivers and Live Discharge from Hospice: What Happens When Hospice Leaves?,” has inspired further research in the field.

Samantha Normilus ’19BSN, ’26MSN has received the Excellent in Nursing Practice Award from the New England Regional Black Nurses Association, Inc. (NERBNA).
