Demystify the Networking Process!
Join the First Gen Committee & the Office of Career Development for a fun and supportive event designed to demystify the networking process — especially for first-generation students (though everyone is welcome – bring a friend!).
We’ve got you covered if you’re looking to polish or begin your LinkedIn, write a template elevator pitch, or figure out how to navigate the networking landscape!
You can expect:
- Handshake Support – Learn how to navigate the platform and find opportunities tailored to you.
- LinkedIn – Build an “About Me” section and customize your banner.
- Professional Headshots – Sign up for a professional headshot to upgrade your profiles!
- Elevator Pitch – Practice how you introduce yourself with confidence.
- And… Oat Milk Matcha Lattes! – Stick around for a fresh, on-the-spot matcha latte once you complete your networking tasks!
This is a space to connect with fellow first-gen students, get career-ready without the pressure, and walk away with great resources — and a tasty drink!
November 8 is National First-Generation College Celebration Day — and we’re celebrating you!
Join us for a week full of special events, workshops, and programs designed specifically for first-gen students.
As part of the celebration, we will be offering a variety of social and community events, as well as informative and career-focused workshops covering topics like networking, budgeting, and storytelling. These sessions aim to equip first-gen students with practical tools for success while creating space to share stories, connect with peers, and build community.
This campus-wide collaborative initiative is brought to you in partnership with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the REEF Support Center, the Center for Leadership and Engagement, the Office of Career Development, and the School of Management.
