Anita Silvey teaches Modern Book Publishing and Librarianship at Simmons University, explaining the book publishing process and how it intersects with the work of librarians. She also teaches a course in the History of Children's Book Publishing. Both courses explore the book creation process in all its complexity and grow out of her expertise in publishing. She has served as Editor of Horn Book Magazine and Vice-President and Publisher of Children's Books at Houghton Mifflin. She works as a writer, exploring the history of individual books and writing critical volumes — 100 Best Books for Children and Everything I Need to Know I Learned from a Children's Book.
