Join Associate Dean Dr. Johnnie Hamilton-Mason for a powerful and timely conversation as she reflects on her research two decades after Hurricane Katrina. Exploring the resilience, spirituality, and coping strategies of 15 Black women who survived the storm and its aftermath, Dr. Hamilton-Mason reveals how race, gender, and class shaped the lived experience of these women in profound ways.

As Hurricane Katrina exposed the inequalities deeply rooted in our social structures, Dr. Hamilton-Mason's work underscores the vulnerability of marginalized populations in the face of crisis. MSW Program Director Dr. Gary Bailey will guide a reflective dialogue on the enduring relevance of Dr. Hamilton-Mason's work in today's sociopolitical landscape.
