Direct Graduate Pathways Available at Simmons

Direct entry enrollment pathways exist in the following internal graduate programs here at Simmons University. See each program for requirements.

Simmons University 4+1 Health and Exercise Science - Nutrition and Health Promotion
Simmons students in the 4+1 track matriculate directly into our MS nutrition program from the Health and Exercise Science major

Master’s of Public Health (MPH) : Online
As part of the Simmons Edge Program, you can matriculate directly into our MPH program from any major (a science major is a plus), and begin taking MPH Graduate courses during your 4th year

Masters of Science in Behavior Analysis (MsBA)
As part of the Simmons Edge Program, you can matriculate directly into our MsBA program from any major (a science major is a plus), and begin taking MsBA Graduate courses during your 4th year

Direct Entry Nurse Practitioner Programs (MSN-FNP or MSN-PMHNP)
Simmons offers a number of direct entry nursing programs for students with a non-nursing bachelor's degree, such as biology, biochemistry, chemistry, public health, health and exercise science, nutrition, neuroscience and behavior, or psychology.

Affiliated medical school program

4+4 B.A./B.S to M.D at St. George's University

Simmons University holds a partnership with St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada.

Simmons students who are accepted to the pathway, complete four years of pre-medical coursework, have maintained a a 3.4 overall GPA and a 3.2 Science GPA, and scored competitively (within 5 points of the average) on the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) will automatically be granted admission to a four-year program at the St. George's School of Medicine. School of Medicine students who participate in the 4+4 program receive a $10,000 scholarship from St. George's distributed over their four years of study and are eligible for additional scholarships and grants.

Required Courses

  • One year of Biology with a lab
  • One year of Inorganic Chemistry with a lab
  • One year Organic Chemistry with a lab
  • One semester of Physics with a lab
  • One semester of Math: Calculus, Computer Science, or Statistics
  • One semester of English

Strongly recommended courses

  • One additional semester of Physics
  • Two semesters of Social Science (Psychology or Sociology)
  • A semester in Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Physiology.

4+4 B.A./B.S to D.V.M.

Simmons University holds a partnership with St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada.

Entry Requirements

  • Acceptance to Simmons University
  • High School and College transcripts (for transfer and current students)
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Strong performance in science and math courses (B or higher)
  • Relevant animal experience (caregiving, pet sitting, volunteering at shelters, shadowing veterinarians, etc.)
  • Two letters of recommendation (one from a science teacher and one from another teacher or DVM/Veterinarian if applicable)

Admission Requirements for SGU School of Veterinary Medicine

  • Final official Simmons transcript
  • Science GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Completion of all prerequisite coursework
  • Recommendation for Progression completed by an advisor or dean
  • At least 500 hours of relevant animal experience is strongly recommended (with completion of the Veterinary Verification Form)
