What to Bring

We've taken the stress out of packing by curating a comprehensive checklist for our first years.

Discuss With Your Roommates

You might decide you don't need two!

  • Sound System
  • TV (we don't recommend bringing one, but if you do, you'll need a Roku box to have it work with Xfinity On Campus)

  • Standing lamps (Remember: No halogens, due to fire safety)
  • Rugs
  • Trash can

For Your Room

  • Dishes (plate, bowl, cup, fork, knife, spoon, can opener, sauce pan)
  • First aid kit (Band-aids, antibiotic cream, cold medication, aspirin)
  • Alarm clock
  • Posters
  • Picture frames
  • Three prong outlet adapters (for some rooms in Simmons & Morse, feel free to call our office to check if your room will need one)

For Your Desk

  • Desk lamp
  • Stapler

  • Drying rack
  • Hand soap
  • Flip-flops for the shower
  • Towels, both hand towel and full-sized
  • Shower basket (to carry shampoo/conditioner, soap, etc., back and forth)

Other Important Things

  • Key chain
  • Social security card
  • Health insurance card
  • Address book
  • Money (large amounts should be kept safely in the bank)
  • Quarters for laundry and/or vending machine (both also use Fenway Cash)
  • Prescription medication

What to Leave at Home:

  • All upholstered furniture that does not have fire-retardant labels
  • Any cooking appliances other than the college-supplied Microfridge (however, you can bring coffee makers with automatic shutoffs)
  • Halogen lamps
  • Candles, incense or any other type of flame or burning unit (These items are all considered fire hazards)
  • Car (There is no student parking available for residents, it is extremely difficult to find street parking, and is very expensive to finance parking options. Most students use the public transportation system.)
  • Hammer, nails and power drills (They damage the walls and any damages will be deducted from your housing deposit)
  • All pets (with the exception of fish that live in a 5-gallon tank or smaller)
