You are invited to the Department of Critical Race, Gender, & Cultural Studies Undergraduate Research Symposium on Tuesday, April 16 at 12:00 pm in the Kotzen Room (Lefavour Hall). All are welcome! Free lunch will be provided.

Pre-registration is required.

Please note that that day is an Administrative Monday so Monday classes meet instead of Tuesday classes.

The event will feature three senior majors in the department who will each present on their independent study / senior thesis research projects:

  • Laura-Luiza Cabral Gouvea (Africana Studies / History / Sociology '24), “Olha, mãe, estou na televisão!: The Characterization of Blackness on Brazilian Telenovelas from the 1970s into the Present Day”
  • Julia Wilen (Women's & Gender Studies / Spanish / Literature & Writing '24), "Transness in the Intersections: Visibility and Personhood in Carceral Spaces”
  • Reham Zeroual (Africana Studies / Political Science / Philosophy '24), “Memory: The Making of Algerian Postcolonial Identity”
