Verifications

Often, students will need to provide proof of enrollment or proof of graduation to loan companies, insurance companies, potential employers, and many other institutions. Our office provides these verifications free of charge and typically processes them within 1 business day of receiving a request. Currently enrolled students may request an enrollment verification, and alumnae/i may request a degree verification.

Enrollment Verifications for Current Students

Enrollment Verifications serve as proof that you're currently a Simmons student. Enrollment Verification Letters include:

  • Student name and address
  • Semesters enrolled at Simmons University
  • Student status based on number of credits per semester (full time, half time, or less than half time)
  • Anticipated completion date
  • Anticipated degree
  • Signature of the Registrar and stamp of the official University seal

If requesting a letter for student loan deferment purposes: Simmons University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide all information necessary for loan deferment. We automatically submit your student enrollment status once per month electronically, and loan companies can contact the National Student Clearinghouse directly. If for any reason your loan company requests further proof of enrollment, we are happy to provide an Enrollment Verification Letter as well.

For all student requests, please send an email request from your Simmons email address, including your student ID number and where you would like the verification sent. You can also fill out a Verification Request Form and mail, fax, or email it to our office. Our office cannot process requests over the phone.

Special Forms

If you have a specific form that must be filled out to be provided to an accreditation board or other institution, please fill out the portion of the form with your personal information (name, date of birth, etc.) and then scan and email, fax, or mail the form to the Office of the Registrar to complete the verification portion of the form. These forms can take more than the typical 1-day processing time for our office to complete, depending on their complexity and any additional verifications needed from other departments. Please indicate any deadlines, along with your Simmons ID number, upon submitting the form.

For Third Party Requests

Simmons University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide all information necessary for enrollment verification requests. Please contact them directly about your inquiry. According to the FERPA laws, we are unable to release any information about students without their permission in the form of a signed release. Please provide written student consent or have the student fill out a Release of Information Form. Our office cannot process requests over the phone.

Degree Verifications for Former Students

Degree Verifications serve as proof that you have received a Simmons degree. Degree Verification Letters contain the following:

  • Name during attendance
  • Degree received
  • Date of degree conferral
  • Signature of the Registrar and seal of the University

Please fill out the Degree Verification Request Form to request proof of degree completion. This form can be submitted through mail, fax, or email. No phone call requests can be processed. There is no charge associated with this letter and they are typically processed within the same business day that we receive the request.

An official transcript will also show all Simmons degrees earned with conferral dates. To request one, please fill out the Transcript Request Form. Note that there is a $5 fee for alumnae/i for transcripts. If you need to order an additional copy of your diploma, please fill out the Diploma Request Form. You can learn more about these documents on our Transcripts and Diplomas page.

Third Party Requests

Simmons University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide degree verification information. To obtain the information you need, please visit this site. Make sure to include as much information about the student as possible, including name during attendance.

If the National Student Clearinghouse is unable to find the information about the student, the request is sent directly to our office and we will process it and reply with the requested information. Please allow 3-5 business days after your original request is rejected to receive the information needed.

If there are any outstanding issues, we will contact you for further information and this will require a release of information form signed by the student. According to the FERPA laws, we are unable to release any information about the student without his/her permission in the form of a signed release. Please provide written student consent or have the student fill out a Release of Information Form. Our office cannot process requests over the phone.
