Nurturing a Connected and Expansive One Simmons Community

The Living and Learning Center (LLC) is the centerpiece of One Simmons – our landmark initiative to create a unified, student-centered campus designed for the 21st century and beyond. More than a decade in the making, this once-in-a-generation project reflects Simmons’ commitment to building a campus and a culture where academics, community, and connection thrive together. From cutting-edge labs and high-fidelity simulation facilities to collaborative classrooms, modern athletic spaces, and vibrant community hubs, every element of One Simmons is designed to support student success and belonging and serve as a catalyst for future strength and opportunity.

Opening in January 2027, the LLC is the final stage in what is currently Boston’s largest higher-education real estate project and a cornerstone of Simmons’s long-term financial and operational strategy. One Simmons enables us to optimize our most valuable assets – our location, our facilities, and our partnerships – to advance our mission while generating new, sustainable revenue streams. Leasing, events, and partnerships will strengthen our fiscal foundation; intentional design and shared spaces will foster collaboration and innovation across our community.

By investing in One Simmons, we are investing in resilience: securing the University’s financial future, enabling our entire community to come together in ways not previously possible, creating new opportunities for learning and engagement, and ensuring that Simmons remains a vibrant, sustainable, and forward-looking university for generations to come.

“One Simmons is not only built for collaboration, inclusion, and accessibility — it is built for long-term fiscal strength and opportunity.”

Laura Brink Pisinski '06MS, Vice President of University Real Estate Development and Facilities Management

Highlights

A Boston Destination: One Simmons transforms our campus into a welcoming living, learning, and innovation hub with collaborative spaces, labs, simulation facilities, athletics, and student-centered community areas in the heart of Boston.

A 21st Century Student Experience:  Simmons will enhance student recruitment, retention, and success by creating a women-centered learning and co-ed, gender-inclusive community experience that reflects the needs and aspirations of today’s learners. By integrating academics, wellness, and community life in a single, student-centered campus, Simmons ensures that every student can thrive both inside and outside the classroom, preparing them for meaningful professional and civic impact.

Thriving Community Culture: One Simmons offers a unique opportunity for our entire community – undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff – to connect, collaborate, and create across shared spaces and programs. We will foster a culture of belonging, inclusion, and shared purpose – deepening relationships, fostering cross-campus learning, and empowering every member of the community to shape a thriving, connected, and purposeful University community.

New Athletic Facilities and Wellness Resources: A dynamic hub for recreation, wellness, and high-level competition, the LLC features NCAA-compliant athletics center with modern training equipment, fully equipped weight and fitness rooms, multipurpose courts for basketball, volleyball, and other sports, a spin studio, group fitness and dance studios, an eight-lane indoor pool, and a rowing tank. These spaces support student recruitment, retention, and holistic success by providing both high-performance training for varsity scholar-athletes on our NCAA teams and club sports, and accessible wellness and recreation opportunities for the broader community.

Revenue Growth: Strategic leasing, events, and partnerships generate sustainable auxiliary revenue to strengthen the University’s mission.

A Good Neighbor: We love our home in the City of Boston! We are committed to being an engaged and collaborative presence in our local community. By sharing the Living and Learning Center with educational institutions whose missions and values align with ours, we foster meaningful partnerships and connections.

"Athletics and wellness are vital components of the college experience and Simmons distinguishes itself as a leader in advancing opportunities for women’s sports, wellness, and recreation."
