Elham "Ellie" Bogner Masoomkhah

Adjunct Faculty in the Role of Section Instructor

Ellie is a passionate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Enthusiast, Practitioner, Student, and Educator with a diverse background. She earned her B.Sc. in Architectural Engineering from the National University of Iran in 2012 and initially worked as an architect, designer, and urbanist in Iran. Her academic journey led her to obtain a master’s degree from the City and Regional Planning program at Clemson University, where her thesis focused on developing criteria for social justice in an Islamic context. Ellie's research interests revolve around the integration of geospatial technologies to address environmental and social disparities. During her time at Clemson University Planning and Design, spanning over two years concurrent with her master’s studies, she managed their GIS needs. Subsequently, she became a valuable member of the Clemson Center for Geospatial Technologies (CCGT), contributing to research and training initiatives. At CCGT, Ellie and her team provided crucial support and training to over 2,000 students, staff, and faculty per year. Her responsibilities at CCGT included teaching GIS, implementing and managing cloud-computing and web-based GIS platforms, and strengthening the GIS program as a primary service provider. Ellie also played a key role in research consultation, user education, and the development of customized training materials for class instruction and project support across various departments on campus. She fondly describes CCGT as a GIS wonderland, where she collaborated with numerous students and faculty, fostering spatial thinking, and supporting their work. Currently, Ellie serves as the GIS Manager at Harvard University. Additionally, she instructs GIS II Spatial Analysis and Investigating Health Inequities at the Department of Public Health, Simmons University, showcasing her commitment to advancing GIS knowledge and its applications in various domains.
