Alumnae/i Association Award Nomination Form

The Simmons University Alumnae/i Association is proud to present several awards annually to recognize, honor, and celebrate the exceptional accomplishments and careers of our alumnae/i, as well as service to the community and the University. Check out last year's award winners and a list of past award recipients.

The Alumnae/i Association Awards Committee is now accepting nominations for the following awards which will be presented at the Alumnae/i Association Awards Brunch at Simmons University during our 2019 Reunion Weekend. Read the descriptions below and submit your nominations.

Recent Alumna Achievement Award

The Recent Alumna Achievement Award recognizes an alumna who graduated within the previous 10 years and who has made outstanding contributions to Simmons University and in professional or civic fields of endeavor. The candidate should also demonstrate promise for continuing service and leadership to Simmons and in her field.  First awarded in 2004, the Recent Alumna Achievement Award may also recognize a recipient who has demonstrated accomplishments in her career choice and recognition in other volunteer efforts.

Alumnae/i Service Award

Established in 1964 by the Alumnae/i Association, the Alumnae/i Service Award recognizes an alumna who has demonstrated dedicated service to the Alumnae/i Association through leadership in class, club, and/or Alumnae/i Association programs and committees. This award seeks to honor an alumna who has served Simmons and the Alumnae/i Association with dedication through leadership, and who has exhibited an outstanding and ongoing commitment to the College and the Association. Criteria for recognition may include extensive work with clubs, class, the Association and/or students; fundraising, visibility created for Simmons University and longevity and dedication in leadership roles.

Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lifetime Achievement Award is a wonderful opportunity to recognize an undergraduate alumna for outstanding achievements and to celebrate their commitment to the community and beyond. This award honors an undergraduate alumna whose lifetime accomplishments have brought them to the top of their field of endeavor. The committee welcomes nominations that reflect the diversity of Simmons alumnae/i and their many avenues of achievement.

Community Service Award

Established in 1999 by the Alumnae/i Association, the Community Service Award was created in support of Simmons's commitment to community service, and as a means of recognizing the long history of alumnae/i commitment to their communities and volunteer organizations. This award seeks to recognize an alumna who has made a significant volunteer contribution to the world around them, and who has undertaken unique and innovative approaches to solving community issues and bettering the world. The goal of the Community Service Award is to recognize an undergraduate alumna who is actively engaged in voluntary service that benefits the local or regional community, a specific non-profit group, or the national or international community.

The awards process is under the direction of the Simmons Alumnae Awards Committee of the Alumnae Association and its Executive Board (AAEB), and is highly selective. The Committee welcomes nominations that reflect the following:

  • Alumnae of outstanding achievement in each award category
  • Alumnae who will inspire Simmons students
  • Alumnae who reflect the diversity of Simmons graduates and their accomplishments. 

General Qualifications

Any alumna who attended Simmons and received an undergraduate degree is eligible for nomination if they meet the specific requirements for a particular award category. Exceptions include current employees of Simmons and alumnae serving on the Board of Trustees, the Alumnae Association Board (AAEB) or the Alumnae Awards Committee. Alumnae/i cannot receive the same award more than once.


Nominations will be held in strictest confidence. As Simmons is fortunate to have a large pool of outstanding graduates, candidates may be considered through a number of award cycles. The Awards Committee will notify nominators if their candidates' nominations will remain active. The Committee always appreciates any new information on such alumnae/i who have been previously nominated.

The annual awards cycle is as follows:

  • December: Announcement to accept nominations
  • January: Nominations due by online submission or by mail
  • Winter: Review of nominations by Awards Committee
  • Spring: Notification of awards to nominators and nominees
  • Reunion Weekend: Awards Ceremony
