Women's History Month Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

Our 2022 Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, Women on the Frontlines, will be a hybrid event. It seeks to recognize the diverse women out on the many frontlines -- of public health, of journalism, of research, of the arts -- throughout history, especially those who were or are women of color. Like other Women's History Month edit-a-thons taking place across the U.S., it also takes direct aim at Wikipedia's "gender gap," that is, the lack of diversity and equal representation in Wikipedia's coverage and among those who create its content.

Our month-long hybrid Edit-a-thon will kickoff on Tuesday, March 1st,

  • 12:00-1:30PM EST for in-person attendees, at Simmons University Comm Lounge
  • 12:30-1:30pm EST for remote attendees (via Zoom)

We will provide basic instruction on editing Wikipedia (it's easier than you may think), ideas for articles to improve, tips on how to find resources for adding and editing material, and lightning talks related to our theme. We will hold virtual drop-in sessions throughout March, and a wrap party on March 31.
