With Simmons' minor in Statistics, you'll sharpen your ability to think critically and analytically. You’ll learn how to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive informed decision-making.

Our curriculum emphasizes hands-on projects through computer lab investigations, cooperative study groups, and independent research. Along the way, you’ll strengthen your problem-solving abilities and build confidence in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data. 

Our faculty are attuned to diverse learning styles and the evolving demands of the modern workplace. You’ll master core and advanced statistical concepts, preparing you to thrive in roles such as data scientist, analyst, or researcher.

STAT228 Introduction to Data Science 4
STAT239 Regression and Design of Experiments 4
After the 2023-2024 academic year, STAT 227 and STAT 229 were replaced by STAT 239. Students who have taken STAT 227 and/or STAT 229 are still eligible for the Minor in Statistics. Students with questions on the Minor in Statistics should talk with the Chair of the Department of Computer, Data, and Mathematical Sciences.
