Simmons University’s School of Nursing (SON) welcomed six new faculty members this academic year. We asked our new faculty members what they want their students to know about nursing today, and about an experience that changed how they viewed their profession.

The Carlotta Simulation is an interprofessional simulation lab established by Simmons’ School of Nursing faculty. It has been developed into an invaluable experience for students of nursing, physical therapy, and nutrition. This year, School of Social Work students have also been invited to participate.

The Dotson Bridge and Mentoring Program hosted its annual Lectureship event for in-person and virtual attendees on February 25. This year’s guest speaker, founder of the New Nurse Academy LLC, Tiffany Gibson, discussed how the art of emotional intelligence can foster inclusivity and wellbeing in nursing environments.

Elaine Church Hubbard, Ed.D., Ed.M., R.N., ANP-C, who served as a professor and Dean of Simmons College's Department of Nursing from 1962 to 1975, died on December 9, 2025, at the age of 98.

LaDonna Christian, Associate Professor of Practice and Director of the Dotson Bridge and Mentoring Program, was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
