2. Personal Statement
- What is your reasoning for transferring to Simmons? Questions to think about and potentially respond to: Why are you pursuing your intended major? Why are you applying to Simmons in particular? Why are you interested in this now?
- Award-winning feminist poet and writer, Adrienne Rich, urged women to "claim an education," in her famous 1977 essay, which she first delivered at a convocation for graduating seniors. In it she wrote, "The first thing I want to say to you who are students, is that you cannot afford to think of being here to receive an education; you will do much better to think of yourselves as being here to claim one." Write about a time (or more) when you claimed an education and why. Explain why such an act made a difference and how you see that influencing your potential work at Simmons University.
- Please double space your statement, which should be between two and four pages long.
3. College Transcripts
Simmons requires transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities. 17+ prior college credits are required. Copies of high school transcript(s) are also required unless you have received an Associate’s Degree.
Official transcripts should be sent directly by the institution, or through an official transcript e-delivery service, to the Simmons Undergraduate Admission Office.
