Benefits of the Simmons Honors Program
Honors Award
All members of the Honors Program will receive a $1000 tuition scholarship. This scholarship will be applied directly to the student's tuition bill, half in the fall and half in the spring.
Leadership Opportunities
Leadership Engagement and Opportunities
Honors students are invited to participate in the annual Student Leadership Conference, hosted by the Eckert Center for Leadership and Engagement. In addition students will have the opportunity to learn from leaders in the Simmons community through curated programming and networking events.
Applied Leadership Certificate
Honors Students are encouraged to take part in the Applied Leadership Certificate, an opportunity that provides students with both leadership curricular content and applied leadership and reflection learning experiences to support students’ capacity to become effective leaders in any personal or professional environment they are in.
Mentoring Program
All first year Honors students are assigned a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Mentor. Mentors provide students with an outlook on dorm life, living in Boston, the Simmons community, classes, surviving freshman year, etc. They will also be able to answer any questions that students have during the summer before they get to Simmons.
The Peer-to-Peer (P2P) mentoring program is a paid leadership opportunity for juniors and seniors in the Honors Program. Students will build important communication and leadership skills while gaining visibility at Simmons and fostering a sense of community within the program.
Honors Faculty Mentors
Each cohort of Honors students have a dedicated faculty mentor to help them chart their course through Simmons and provide individualized mentorship and support.
Honors Suite
All Honors students have access to the Honors Suite. The Honors Suite has a dedicated work space perfect for quiet study as well as a comfortable lounge for group meetings, socialization, and activities planning. Coffee and tea are available as well as office supplies and a lending library.
Housing
Honors students in the first year typically live with other Honors students in an Honors living and learning community. After the first year, Honors students may opt to remain with Honors students.

Simmons Students Honored at Bell Ringer Awards
Two Merit Awards were presented to Simmons University students at the PR Club of New England’s 58th Annual Bell Ringer Awards. Communications student Nevaeh Berenato ’26 was recognized for the article, “Concert Review: Maruja Protests with Punk at the Sinclair,” (The Simmons Voice, September 2025). The students of Studio 5 were recognized for “Elevating Pediatric Airway Health Awareness & Expertise.”
Newsweek Names Simmons a Top Women-Centered College in MA
In its 2026 America’s Best Colleges for Women rankings, Newsweek named Simmons University a top women-centered institution in Massachusetts. Simmons is also listed among the best 50 colleges/universities nationally for women (#49).
3+2 Engineering Student Researches Ultrasound Technology
Maya McCabe ’27 is a biochemistry major and physics minor in the dual degree (3+2) engineering program. She spoke with us about her research funded by the Focused Ultrasound Foundation and the hands-on STEM training she is receiving at Simmons.
Six Students Selected for the 2026 Senior Scholar Award
Six graduating seniors have been selected for the prestigious Senior Scholar Award at Simmons University. Sponsored by the Provost’s Office and the Office of Research and Fellowships, the Senior Scholar Award recognizes outstanding scholarly research and creative works across a variety of disciplinary fields.

Congratulations to the 2025 SURPASs Scholars
Eight undergraduate scholars from disciplines across Simmons have been selected to join the Summer Undergraduate Research Program at Simmons (SURPASs). SURPASs students receive the necessary funding and mentorship to execute an independent research project of their own design.

Unsung Contributions to the History of Nursing
School of Nursing student Ava Dugan ’27 was selected as the winner of the American Association for the History of Nursing’s (AAHN) annual essay contest for Nursing students. Dugan's essay highlighted nurses often overlooked in history books, in spite of the impact of their contributions.
