*Candidates for the certificate program must have or be eligible to receive a current initial or professional Massachusetts teaching license in an approved teaching area. If you do not already hold a teaching license, you may wish to consider our Moderate Disabilities MSEd program.
**Please access the application through a newer version of Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox or Safari. Users will not be able to access forms through Internet Explorer 6, 7 or 8 on Windows XP.
Application Requirements
All candidates are required to submit the following materials:
- A completed online application form.
- Current résumé or C.V.
- Copies of all teaching licenses/certificates held (email to [email protected])
- Official transcript(s) of all undergraduate and graduate-level courses taken, including official transcripts from all study-abroad programs.* Official transcripts can be mailed to the address below or emailed to [email protected] For transcripts to be official, they must come directly from your college/university or sent through a service such as National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment
- A non-refundable application fee of $35
* International transcripts must be officially translated and evaluated for educational equivalency if they reflect conferral of a baccalaureate degree. Our preferred provider is WES.
In addition to the requirements listed above, international students must also submit the following:
- An official TOEFL or IELTS score (Simmons' TOEFL code is 3761) - required of applicants for whom English was not their first language and who do not hold a degree from a university where English is the primary language of instruction.
- Official course-by-course degree evaluations are required of applicants who received a degree from a university outside the U.S. or Canada.
Application Deadlines
The Office of Graduate Studies Admission reviews applications on a rolling basis. Applicants to on-campus programs are encouraged to apply early for maximum scholarship consideration. To meet priority application deadlines, completed application files should be submitted by the following dates:
- Summer: May 1
- Fall: August 1
- Spring: December 1
Admission may be deferred for up to one year, after which applicants must reapply.

Tuition and fees
Tuition and fees at Simmons are updated annually each spring. They are assessed each semester based on the number of credits enrolled, the level of degree, and the particular program of study.

All students taking 9 or more credits are required by Massachusetts State law to enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan or be covered by a health insurance plan with comparable coverage.
