Join President Wooten and the Alumnae/i Association as we celebrate the September 29 birthday of our beloved Simmons alumna Gwen Ifill ‘77, HD ‘93, and welcome Dr. Ammina Kothari, the new Dean of the Ifill School of Media, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
We will present a Conversation of Remembrance – a hybrid dialogue with Simmons Trustee Roberto Ifill (Gwen’s brother) and Dean Kothari. Simmons' classmates of ‘77 and Professor Bob White will reminisce and re-introduce Gwen to current students, faculty, and staff. Students from Professor Bruce Gellerman’s Comm 260 class in the Ifill School will share how they can be keepers of Gwen’s legacy as students and alums.
Additionally, we will announce the Gwen Ifill Paid Internship administered as a partnership between the Alumnae/i Association and the Ifill School, commencing in Fall 2025.
While Simmons is celebrating 125 years as a women’s-centered institution and the Carnegie Foundation has bestowed a distinguished leadership designation for the work Simmons is doing to advance this area, we couldn’t choose a more fitting time to remember Gwen Ifill.
Everyone from the Simmons community is invited to join the celebration in person (space is limited) or online.
