Student Health Insurance Plan
All campus-based students enrolled 3/4 time or more (general credit threshold for 3/4 time is 9 credits for undergrads and 7 credits for grads with some exceptions) are required by Massachusetts State law to enroll in the Student Health Insurance or be covered by a health insurance plan with comparable coverage. To ensure compliance with Massachusetts State law, Simmons University students are automatically enrolled in and billed for the Student Health Insurance Plan, which is unrelated to the mandatory Health Center fee. Students are not allowed to waive coverage with a foreign insurance carrier or the Health Safety Net Plan. Information about Student Health Insurance Plan coverage and benefits is available on the University Health Plans website.
Please note: Simmons University does not offer Student Health Insurance to students enrolled in online programs, students enrolled 3/4 time or less or the dependent(s) of any Simmons University student.

NOTE: online students are not eligible for the Student Health Insurance Plan at Simmons University
Students that are covered under a comparable insurance plan may be eligible to waive the Student Health Insurance Plan. To waive coverage please visit University Health Plans. Have your 7-digit Simmons student ID number and existing health insurance information available as it will be required to complete the waiver. Students are not allowed to waive coverage with a foreign insurance carrier or with the Health Safety Net Plan. Only insurance companies within the United States will be accepted as substitutes for the Simmons University Student Health Insurance Plan.
Students that choose to accept the Simmons University Student Health Insurance Plan must enroll online. Enrolling in coverage will expedite the process of receiving your membership card and will not result in a duplicate charge. To enroll in coverage please visit University Health Plans.

Failure to submit a waiver by the stated deadline will result in mandatory enrollment in the Simmons University Student Health Insurance Plan with no possibility of reversal or refund of the insurance cost.
