How to Apply for Financial Aid


After submitting your application to admission, your next step is to apply for financial aid. This allows us to build a personalized financial aid package that reflects your needs and goals.

Apply for institutional and federal financial aid

Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using Simmons University’s Federal School Code: 002208.

Make sure to submit your FAFSA by February 1. Simmons does not have a priority FAFSA deadline.

Merit scholarships

If you apply as a first-year, transfer, or Dix Scholar, you will automatically be considered for merit-based scholarships. If you’re an international applicant, you are also automatically considered. No additional application is required.

As a graduate student, you can finance your education through federal loans and merit-based scholarships.

Federal loans

You may be eligible for federal loans as a graduate student if you are:

  • Enrolled at least half-time (5 credits per semester)
  • A US citizen or an eligible non-citizen
  • Enrolled in a degree program
  • Not in default (more than 270 days late) on any previous federal loan debt
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress

Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Note: Simmons University’s Federal School Code is 002208.

You’re encouraged to apply for federal loans after applying for admission. We will use your FAFSA data to determine your loan eligibility each year.

Merit-based scholarships

Merit-based scholarships are available for graduate students. Learn more about scholarships available for your program.

How to apply for merit-based scholarships

  • If you are eligible, you will automatically be considered for merit-based scholarships at the time of acceptance. No additional paperwork is required.
  • Because funding may be limited, we encourage you to apply early.
