Researching Textbooks and Requesting Review Copies
An invaluable resource for researching course books is FacultyEnlight, an online database of over 260,000 textbooks which includes preview information such as book summaries, tables of contents, and sample chapters. You may also request professional review/desk copies at the site.
Ordering Textbooks and Packets for Courses
There are a variety of ways to order textbooks for your class:
- Online: Web orders may be placed 24 hours a day from the Textbook Adoption Page
- Email: Orders via email may be sent via email to the bookstore.
- Textbook Order Form: Completed forms from your department may be mailed or delivered to the Bookstore in MCB A-060 or faxed to 617-521-3098
The Simmons Bookstore partners with XanEdu to secure copyright permissions and custom print course packets with your selections of journal articles, magazine articles, and book chapters. Securing copyright permissions can be a lengthy process so please submit all requests by the semester ordering deadline. Orders may be placed at XanEdu.com.
Book order forms and course packet orders are due in the bookstore:
- Fall semester - April 1
- Summer semester - March 15
- Spring semester - October 15
Orders received by these dates allow the bookstore to pay students the best buyback prices for texts being used the following semester and help ensure that ordered books arrive by the semester start.
Ordering Desk Copies
Publishers often will provide free desk copies of adopted textbooks to faculty. Desk copies may be ordered through FacultyEnlight or by mailing or faxing a request on Simmons letterhead to the publisher.
If you have questions about the textbook adoption and course packet ordering process, please do not hesitate to call the bookstore manager at 617-521-2054.
