As the Boston Business Journal reported, Boston Legacy FC, the Boston area’s professional women’s soccer team, is playing its inaugural home opener at a time when the business of women’s sports is experiencing tremendous growth.
“The community-driven aspect of women’s sports often draws in new brands and fans for the first time,” said Justine Pouravelis, an experienced sports media executive and professor of practice at Simmons’ School of Management (SOM). She is also playing an integral role in developing Simmons’ news MS in management: business and leadership in women’s sports concentration.
“I think the Legacy is trying to find those fans where they are, meet them where they are, and bring them to the party in very creative ways,” Pouravelis added.
