SOM Dean Quoted in NBC News Boston

With the city of Boston hosting seven FIFA World Cup soccer games in June 2026, Massachusetts businesses are preparing to entice an influx of potential customers. As NBC News Boston reported, business leaders — including individuals from Simmons — gathered in Foxborough on September 24 for a Women's Business Summit focused on the economic impact of the World Cup.

“What I heard very much is that there is an overarching plan and underneath that there is room for a lot of small businesses to apply and get a piece of the action,” said Dr. Astrid Sheil, Dean of the School of Management. “This is where women can come and hear, how do I apply, who do I talk to, what are my chances? And that's all everybody wants, is a seat at the table to say, ‘I qualify.’”
