A new partnership will streamline the application process and offer partial tuition remission for Emmanuel undergraduates and alumnae/i who wish to obtain a Master of Social Work degree from Simmons.
Emmanuel College and Simmons University have launched the Fenway Social Work Collaborative, which creates a pathway for Emmanuel undergraduates and alumnae/i to earn their Master of Social Work (MSW) at Simmons, the nation’s oldest clinical social work program.
Eligible students and recent alumnae/i participating in the Collaborative will receive guaranteed admission, a $12,000 tuition scholarship, and the ability to waive up to four graduate courses based on their Emmanuel coursework.
Moreover, the Collaborative streamlines the graduate school application process by waiving application fees, letters of recommendation, and personal statements.
“Simmons is committed to expanding access to high-quality social work education and preparing professionals to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives,” said Simmons University Provost Stephanie Cosner. “This Collaborative creates a clear pathway for students to continue their training in clinical social work — supporting their growth into skilled, compassionate practitioners who strengthen the communities they serve.”
The streamlined process is initiated through Emmanuel’s Sociology Department. For Emmanuel Associate Sociology Professor Ivy Krull, “This partnership recognizes the baseline our social work students have established at Emmanuel and allows them to really hit the ground running for that next step in their careers.”
According to Beth Ross, Emmanuel College President, “This partnership offers a clear path to a life-changing MSW and an opportunity for Saints to get a head-start on that journey while still undergraduates. By working together, we’re ensuring our students successfully transition seamlessly from the classroom to careers of profound impact.”
Simmons School of Social Work Dean Dr. Michael LaSala said, “Social work is a calling. By earning an MSW, Emmanuel students, known for their excellent preparation and commitment to social justice, can transform this calling into a vocation, taking their caring and compassion and turning it into something that will improve lives and make the world a better place.”
