The Santander Retention Scholarship will provide an opportunity for returning undergraduate students – who are experiencing acute financial, medical, or other emergencies – to receive up to $10,000 in scholarship support in an academic year.
The funding reflects Santander’s ongoing commitment to creating pathways to opportunity through the Santander Universities program, as well as Simmons University’s dedication to expanding access and advancing student success. By addressing acute financial and personal challenges, the Santander Retention Scholarship ensures that students can persist in their studies and complete their degrees, even when life circumstances become difficult.
“Financial hardship should never be a barrier to higher education, and Santander Bank’s generous grant allows us to make an immediate and meaningful difference for students so that they can continue their studies,” said Amy Staffier, Assistant Vice President, Enrollment Student Services & Director of Financial Aid at Simmons University. “We are grateful that the Santander Retention Scholarship will remove barriers that too often stand between students and their ability to achieve their academic goals. It also directly supports our mission to empower learners, advance equity, and prepare the next generation of everyday leaders.”
The Santander Retention Scholarship will be available beginning in the Fall 2025 semester and will run through the spring of 2028.
