What is a Listserv? 

Listservs are global mailing lists used by our university to communicate to specific groups of people. These lists are compiled automatically using the information available in Workday.

How do you use a mailing list?  

Find the appropriate audience in the list above, add @simmons.edu to the end and insert that address into the “to:” field of your email. 

When you hit send, your email will be sent to a moderator who will release your email or reject it with a message of explanation back to you.

Before You Send to a Global List

Before you send to a list you should consider: 

• Is my message appropriate for this audience?
• Is there a more specific audience that I could send this message to?
• Is my email free of errors and/or typos?
• Do all of the links work/go to the right place?
• Could this message be shared in another vehicle, such as a department newsletter, meeting agenda, or the internal website?
• Simmons faculty and staff, while acting on behalf of the University, are prohibited from sending partisan political emails using their @simmons email to Simmons Global Mailing Lists/ Listservs without permission of the President of the University or the President’s delegate.

Active Global Mailing Lists 

• The list of current listservs is available to the Simmons Community.
• Additional listservs exist for audiences filtered by School. These are managed and moderated by the Dean’s office of each School.
