A Round-up of Award-Winning Students, Professors, and Alums

Five SLIS students were awarded Spectrum scholarships for the 2014-2015 school year: Priya Charry, N. Suzana Chilaka, Joyce Gabiola, Hannah Mills, and Sara Powell.

SLIS adjunct Eric Poulin began his term as President of the Massachusetts Library Association on July 1, 2015. In addition to teaching at Simmons, Poulin is Coordinator of Library Services at Greenfield Community College. In his career he has worked in school, public, and special libraries.

Dean & Professor Emeritus James M. Matarazzo '65LS presented the results of research conducted with Dr. Toby Pearlstein '77LS, '87DA at the 14th Annual Conference of the Association of Caribbean Higher Education Administrators held at The University of the West Indies, St Augustine, Trinidad on July 10, 2015.  The presentation was entitled, "Corporate Libraries: Harbinger of Change for All Libraries."

The Boston Globe featured a story June 13 about Simmons hosting the ceremony for the Boston Globe and Horn Book magazine book awards in October. 

The Boston Globe featured a story based on a report written by Associate Professor Martha Mahard about the neglected state of the Boston Public Library’s art collection. Another Globe story featured the report and comments by Professor Mahard that the Mayor of Boston address the issue. The Boston Sun Times website also featured a story about the BPL collection and included information about Professor Mahard’s assessment.
