We asked Marketing major Gabrielle about her internship

What made you choose Simmons?

Simmons offered the best opportunities for me to accomplish my professional and personal goals. I wanted to study in Boston to get out of my comfort zone. Simmons not only had the best location, but I was also excited to receive an education from a women’s-centered college.

What are you doing for your internship?

I'm the Marketing Intern at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Formerly named Harvard School of Public Health, the Chan School is the public health graduate school of Harvard University, located in the Longwood Medical Area of Boston, adjacent to Harvard Medical School. The Chan School is considered a preeminent school of public health in the United States.

What are your responsibilities at your internship?

As a marketing intern, I update the Harvard T.H. Chan website (through WordPress) and work on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) using Google AdWords to increase website activity.

How did you hear about your internship?

I was a Marketing Assistant last semester at the Chan School, and my manager and I worked together to create several specific projects for me to work on this spring for my internship.

Lessons you have learned from your internship?

Teamwork is so important! Nothing gets done in the office without the combined efforts of every single person in the marketing department. On top of that, keeping open and good communication with your peers and supervisors is equally vital.

What advice would you give students considering an internship?

Don’t ever be afraid to ask questions! You’re there to learn and make a positive impact on the company—neither of which can be accomplished if you don’t know how to do something and you don't ask for guidance.
