What We Do
During the year, our team provides safety awareness and emergency preparedness training for student, faculty, and staff orientations, self-defense programs, and security surveys. We can also provide specialized presentations, trainings, and workshops as requested.
We believe public safety is an inclusive community responsibility built upon our commitment to community policing and by working diligently to cultivate and maintain meaningful campus-wide partnerships. I ask for the support of every member of the Simmons community. Join us in keeping our campus a safe place to learn, work, live, and visit, and remember, if you see something, say something.
The Simmons University Public Safety team stands ready to serve you. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need assistance.

RAD Program
The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a Martial Arts program. Our courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. instructors. R.A.D. offers a free lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D. graduates. For more information about R.A.D. please visit their website.
R.A.D. at Simmons: Courses are available to all female students, faculty, and staff. R.A.D. is easy to learn, easy to retain, and easy to employ during confrontational situations. The course consists of approximately 12 hours of awareness, prevention, risk-reduction strategies, and physical self-defense. All of this culminates in the final session where students participate in a realistic simulation exercise and are able to practice what they learned. To learn more about RAD, please email [email protected].
