Simmons College presents our new series, Music in the Gallery, with an inaugural performance by Tibetan musician Penpa Tsering.

Penpa Tsering, a Tibetan singer, dancer and musician, is a Massachusetts Cultural Council Traditional Artist. Primarily self-taught, Penpa Tsering is passionately interested in sharing Tibetan culture and passing along the songs he learned from his mother and grandfather. He performs dressed in traditional costume a large repertoire of music that is in danger of being lost. Penpa Tsering makes musical instruments and will bring his own and other Tibetan instruments to show and play. He plays sixteen different instruments including the deling (flute), pi-wang (lute) and the impressively long brass trumpet, the dungchen.

This free, public concert is supported by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
