The U.S. cannot afford to pay continuing increases in healthcare costs - but faces a compelling need to improve healthcare quality. Much of the current drama in healthcare revolves around the search for ways to achieve these often conflicting goals. This Health Care Forum will focus on this critical issue in a novel way: we will bring together organizations that in the past have been adversaries of sorts – health insurers and a physicians – to describe what is now a more collaborative relationship to find better value. What are the concrete challenges of working together to improve health quality and costs? What are the success stories and difficulties from these new approaches? How are BCBSMA and physician groups collaborating in new ways and engaging in very different, more productive conversations on improving the cost and quality of care? The result of this discussion will be a thorough exploration of promising new initiatives that describe a key part of our medical future.
