Non-Nursing Student Requirements

Year One

  • The Boston Learning Community Course (Fall, 8 credits)
  • The Simmons Course: Explore (Honors only, Fall, 2 credits)
  • The Honors Leadership Course (Spring, 4 credits)
  • Honors 190: “Talking in the 21st Century” (Spring, 1 credit)

Year Two

  • HON 290 Honors Global Scholars (Fall, 1 credit)
  • The Simmons Course: Experience (Fall or Spring, 1 credit)

All students in the Honors program are required to fulfill their Global Cultural Key Content Area in their second year. This is an honors only class and typically two are offered each semester so that students can have an opportunity to fill the requirement in either the fall or spring.

Year Three

  • The Simmons Course: Excel (Fall or Spring, 1 credit)
  • 3D–Design Across Diverse Disciplines (third and fourth years, 12 credits)

*Two of the three 3D courses must be at the 200 level

Year Four

  • Honors 395: Honors Capstone Project (Fall or Spring, 1 credit)
  • Capstone within Major (4–8 credits)
3 KEY CONTENT AREAS
  • Scientific Inquiry (SCI) (4 credits)
  • Social and Historical (SH) (4 credits)
  • Aesthetic, Literacy, and Artistic (ALA) (4 credits)

*One of the three remaining Key Content Areas must be completed through an Honors Designated Course

  • 3D - Design Across Diverse Disciplines (third and fourth years, 12 credits)*

Requirements for Good Standing in Honors:

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.40
  • Students must maintain good standing at the university level
