Summer 2019 Orientation Schedule & Important Notes
Check in: Will be held on the Residence Campus in Alumnae Hall between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on the morning of the first day of your Orientation. If driving, you will park on the Academic Campus (instructions below) and either walk over or take the shuttle. Orientation will be completed around 4:30 PM on the second day.
Open Office Hours: A select number of offices will be open from 10:30 a.m. prior to the day's activities. The Admissions Office (W102), Student Financial Services (W105), Accessibility Services (Center for Student Success) and Student Affairs Office (C210) staff will be available to answer any lingering questions or help direct you to the correct resource.
Athletics/Health Center Appointments: If you are participating in a Fall sport you are required to have a physical. Please Contact the Health Center at 617-521-1020 to arrange a morning appointment before Orientation kicks off.
Transportation: A shuttle bus will be located outside of the Management and Academic Building and will take you to the Residential Campus for our check in and kick off. If it is a nice day, you can choose to walk (it is about a 7-minute walk). Don't forget to bring your student's luggage with you!
What to Bring: You'll be staying in Simmons or Morse Hall during your time at Simmons for Summer Orientation. We will supply you with a pillow, linens, washcloth and towel. You should bring a blanket (in case it gets chilly) and any toiletries you might need for the night (tooth brush, tooth paste, face wash, etc.) You may also wish to bring flipflops to serve as shower shoes. Orientation dress is casual.
IDs: You will not receive your ID at Summer Orientation. We strongly encourage you to upload a photo online for your Fenway Card, prior to Orientation. You must login with your Simmons login and password (this is the same that you use for your Simmons e-mail).
Outings During Orientation: For your evening activity, you will be going on an outing in Boston with your Orientation Leader and group, followed by an on-campus social. You should plan to bring a pair of good walking shoes for the outing into Boston. If you have any concerns, please let your Orientation Leader know before the outing.
Meals: All of your meals and snacks will be provided. On your registration form please inform us of any accommodations.
If your family is planning to attend Family Orientation, please advise them that check in is between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in the same location as yours. Their day will end around 5:00 p.m.
While we cannot offer housing for families during Orientation, we have a list of area hotels on our website. Your family/friend members should have received an email with additional information pertaining to their orientation.
