Withdrawal from Housing
If you are interested in living off campus or will be graduating, studying abroad, or taking a leave of absence you must complete the withdrawal form. If you withdraw from housing prior to the advertised deadlines, your housing deposit refund will be mailed to the address you have on file with AARC 6-8 weeks after the end of the semester. Please make sure your address is up to date. If you withdraw after the deadline, your housing deposit will be forfeited. Fill out the 2019-2020 withdrawal form here.
Students going on Study Abroad, Domestic Exchange, or Transferring
You must fill out the 2019-2020 housing withdrawal request form to inform the Office of Residence Life of your intentions. If you will not be notified of your acceptance into a program or school until after the deadline, please still fill out the form and select "pending" as the reason for withdrawal. If you are accepted to your program, a copy of your dated acceptance letter must be given to the Office of Residence Life. This form is required in order to receive a refund or place your deposit on hold.
Taking a Leave of Absence, Withdrawing, or Graduating from Simmons
You must fill out the 2019-2020 housing withdrawal request form to inform the Office of Residence Life of your intentions. Only then will you have your housing deposit placed on hold or be eligible to receive a refund on the deposit. If you are graduating in December, you must also fill out the withdrawal form by the deadline in order to receive a refund on your $250 deposit.
Spring 2019 Withdrawal
If you decide you'd like to withdrawal for Spring 2019, you must fill out the 2018-2019 housing withdrawal request form by Friday, November 9, 2018 to inform the Office of Residence Life of your intentions. If your reason for withdrawal is different than studying abroad, transferring, taking a leave of absence, or graduating, please include a description of what has changed between the fall semester and spring semester that is causing you to request to withdraw from housing. Your request does not automatically guarantee removal from the University Housing License Agreement; your request will be reviewed by the Simmons University withdrawal committee and a response will be sent to you via email.
As stated in the University Housing License Agreement, the $250 residence hall deposit – minus any deductions for lockouts, lock recores, or damage to your room – will be refunded if and only if you request withdrawal by the deadline. Please note that it takes 6-8 weeks after the end of semester to process your housing deposit refund. If you withdraw after the above deadline, please be aware that late fees will accrue incrementally the later you submit your request.
