Simmons University Names Dr. Ray Pfeiffer as Director of its School of Business

Ray’s accounting and business experience, outstanding commitment to teaching and undergraduate education and strong administrative skills will be a major asset in this new role as Director of the School of Business.

Simmons University announced today that it has appointed Dr. Ray Pfeiffer as the new Director of the School of Business within the institution’s College of Organizational, Computational and Information Sciences (COCIS). 

“Ray’s accounting and business experience, outstanding commitment to teaching and undergraduate education and strong administrative skills will be a major asset in this new role as Director of the School of Business,” said Dr. Marie desJardins, Dean of the College of Organizational, Computational, and Information Sciences. “Ray has been a tremendous addition to the School of Business and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the team in this new leadership role.”

Dr. Pfeiffer has spent the past quarter century working in higher education, joining the Simmons University faculty in August of 2019. Dr. Pfeiffer conducts research dealing with issues of financial communication between organizations and their stakeholders. His scholarship has appeared in numerous outlets, including the three most prestigious journals in the field. 

Prior to joining Simmons, he served as Professor, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and Chair of Accounting at the M.J. Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University. He began his academic career at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1994 and served one year as Research Fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board in Norwalk, Connecticut. Prior to his academic career, he was a CPA, working as an auditor for Deloitte, Haskins and Sells (now Deloitte) for three years.

Dr. Pfeiffer earned his Ph.D from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his B.A. from Moravian College. He currently resides in West Roxbury with his spouse and two daughters.
