As CEC Director, Andrea oversees a comprehensive career education program and professional staff that serves undergraduate, graduate and alumnae/i populations. She partners with academic deans, faculty and administration to build a student-centered career learning community at Simmons, using a core career curriculum based on the CEC's 5 Step Career Development Model. Her career coaching expertise is for those navigating career transitions, with a focus on mid-later careers. Andrea joined Simmons in August, 2007, bringing an extensive background in career development work in both higher education and the corporate world. She has served as Career Development Manager at Bain and Company and Vice President of Career Management Consulting at Right Management Consultants. In addition, Andrea has over 12 years' experience managing and then directing the career services office at the Harvard School of Public Health. As a writer for the Boston Globe "Job Doc" column she provided advice on career and workplace issues. Andrea has a B.S. from Ohio State University and an M.Ed. from the University of Cincinnati. She is a certified Career Management Fellow from the Institute of Career Certification International (ICCI), the highest level of professional certification for career management professionals, and served as a Governor on the ICCI Board.

Doug joined Simmons in 2008 to oversee the employer relations program in the CEC. In this role he represents Simmons to the employment community, which includes producing career fairs and other on- and off-campus recruitment events and overseeing resources such as Handshake, Simmons' online job board. He also oversees the CEC website, the annual employment surveys, and is involved in technology, marketing, and strategic issues for the department. Doug came to Simmons from the corporate world where in his 30-yr. career in communications he held managerial positions with the Boston Globe,, Houghton Mifflin, Harcourt Brace, and Group W Cable Television. For eight years prior to joining Simmons Doug was involved in the career space, including writing the monthly "Transitions" career column for the Boston Globe and editing and writing the "Job Blog" and "HR Blog" on A former faculty member in-residence at Emerson College and a published author, Doug holds a B.A. in English from Princeton, an M.Ed. from Harvard, and an M.B.A. from Columbia. He recently earned his Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) certificate from the NCDA (National Career Development Association).

Clare joined the Career Education Center in October, 2014. In her role with the CEC she provides undergraduates, graduate students and alumnae/i with individualized career coaching and career programming. Clare brings experience in both higher education and corporate recruiting to Simmons University. She served as a Graduate Assistant at Emerson College Career Services, Lesley University Career Resource Center, and Brandeis University Heller School Career Development Center, where she provided career coaching to undergraduates, graduate students and alumni. She also co-managed a summer career academy for incoming graduate students to jumpstart their career development. Additionally, Clare has experience developing and facilitating career development workshops in areas including resume building, internship and job fair preparation, cover letter writing, and networking. Previously she worked as Recruiting Coordinator for the web-based travel company TripAdvisor. She is also a member of the Career Counselors Consortium and the National Career Development Association (NCDA). Clare holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Ithaca College and an M.S. in College Student Development and Counseling from Northeastern University.

Kalyn RyllKalyn Ryll

Kalyn joined the Career Education Center in October 2017 as Assistant Director of Career Education Services. In her role, she provides individualized career coaching, in-classroom workshops and programs to undergraduate and graduate students, and alumnae/i. Kalyn serves as the project manager for incorporating career preparation curriculum into the classroom and online for both undergraduate and graduate programs. She brings to the CEC a background in higher education, government and private industry. Kalyn previously served as a Career and Academic Coach at Northeastern University, providing guidance to undergraduate and graduate students, and alumnae/i on career planning, preparation, and goal setting. There she assisted with the development of student-facing online career resources, career-focused course content, and career preparation workshops. Additionally, Kalyn served as a Career Advisor at Curry College and a transition counselor working with service members and veterans. She also worked as a recruiting assistant for a legal industry job placement firm and as a paralegal. Kalyn received a B.A. in Psychology from Clark University, an M.B.A. from Suffolk University, and an M.A. in Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Kalyn is certified as a Global Career Development Facilitator and Federal Government Career Coach, and is a member of the National Career Development Association and the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers.

Career Coach (Temporary)

As a Career Coach appointed January to April 2019, Freesia is offering career coaching and support to the Career Education Center for undergraduates, graduates and alumnae/i.  Freesia holds experience in both higher education and non-profit college access programming.  Previously, Freesia worked as a Senior Career Advisor at Bottom Line where she supported first-generation college students with navigating higher education and developing their career pathways. She served as a Career Counselor Graduate Intern for Career Services at the University of Minnesota’s College of Education + Human Development, and as a Graduate Assistant for both the Diversity Inclusion Services Office and Dean of Students office at the University of St. Thomas.  Through these experiences, Freesia has developed a strengths-focused practice and brings a lens of access and inclusion to career development.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Leadership in Student Affairs from the University of St. Thomas, and a B.A. in Global Studies with a concentration in Human Rights and African & African-American studies from the University of Minnesota.

Jess Wallis is the Media/Arts/Humanities Librarian, and the liaison for the Career Education Center. She holds an MLS from Simmons University, and previously worked as a librarian at EBSCO Information Services, and National RTAP, a program of the Federal Transit Administration.

David joined the CEC in January, 2008. As department coordinator he provides support to the entire department, with a concentration on employer relations and technology, as well as overseeing the peer career assistants in the CEC. Prior to Simmons, David worked for three years at Liberty Mutual as an HR Representative. He also has experience as an intern at Medtronic and as a Student Admissions Representative at Boston University. David has a M.Ed. in higher education administration from Northeastern University and a B.A. in psychology from Boston University.
