Grants

Grants are based on financial need and do not have to be repaid. Each of the following grants are available to Simmons undergraduates who demonstrate financial need and other criteria, as designated by the guidelines for each individual grant. Learn more about grant options below. Institutional grants from Simmons University are awarded to students demonstrating financial need. Institutional Grants

  • Simmons Grant: This institutional program provides grants to students who demonstrate need. Need is determined by using information provided on the Federal FAFSA form.

Federal Grants

Students must meet federal financial aid eligibility requirements in order to be considered to receive these need based Grants. Learn about Federal basic eligibility requirements.

  • Federal Pell Grant: This federal program provides grants to undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional financial need. The federal government sets award amounts annually based.
  • Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant: This federal program provides supplemental grants to undergraduate students demonstrating exceptional need who are also receiving a federal pell grant.
  • Teach Grant: This federal program provides grants up to $4000/year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves low income families.

    Please Note: Per federal requirements, if a student does not fulfill the teaching requirement of serving low income families, this grant can turn into an unsubsidized loan with interest accrual dating to original disbursement of the grant.

Massachusetts State Grants

Students must meet the Massachusetts residency requirements in order to be eligible to be considered for any Massachusetts State need based Grants.

  • Mass Grant: This State program provides grants to full time undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional financial need.
  • Gilbert Grant: This state program provides supplemental grants to full time undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need. There is a limited availability of funds to award to students.
