Student Awards

Barbara Sawtelle Outstanding Student Award in Economics is given annually to a senior Economics major who represents the highest standards for Simmons students by combining scholarship, participation in student activities, contribution to college life, and general all-around excellence. 

Class of 1990 Economics Liaison Book Award recognizes the senior Economics major who has produced distinguished written work in her Economics courses.

Donald Basch Award in Public Policy is given annually to a senior Economics major who demonstrates a particular interest in and aptitude for the study of public policy. 

George J. Kachavos Award honors the senior Economics major who demonstrates a particular zeal for the study of Economics and who is most likely to excel in the practical application of Economics in her career. The award was established in memory of an independent businessman and entrepreneur whose enthusiasm for economics inspired both his children to earn degrees in this field.

Patricia Anne McGrory Award recognizes a senior Economics major who has been an active, dependable, and resourceful contributor to the activities and programs of the Department. The award was established in memory of Patricia Anne McGrory, an outstanding Economics major.

Sheila J. Henderson Resilient Scholar Award in Economics honors the student who stands out for courageous persistence to graduation despite significant challenges. The award is sponsored by Sheila J. Henderson, BA in Economics from Simmons, MBA, and PhD in Psychology.
