About Me

Shelby Sanett works at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) in College Park, MD, as the Lead Security Management and Program Analyst in the Security Management Division. She works in several areas, including the Continuity of Operations Program, policy development and various special projects. Dr. Sanett's research interests include traditional preservation, particularly those areas related to disaster planning, response, and security.  Her interests in the digital preservation arena include examining issues related to the programmatic aspects of digital preservation programs, primarily costs, staffing and policy.  Dr. Sanett worked with the National Archives of Australia as the research subject of her dissertation.  Her research has been published in peer-reviewed academic journals and she has been a speaker and guest lecturer on these topics internationally.  Her chapter on Holdings Protection has been published in  "The Preservation Management Handbook”  by Ross Harvey and Martha R. Mahard (2014). Dr. Sanett teaches LIS 439 Preservation Management for Simmons SLIS.
