- School of Social Work
I have had the pleasure of being an adjunct faculty member at Simmons since 2002. I was thrilled when I was asked to join the full time faculty in September of 2014. This represents an opportunity for me to not only enhance my teaching skills, but to also collaborate with both students and colleagues in our efforts to provide innovative and evidenced based mental health services in the community and in schools. I received my MSW from Boston College in 1987, and have spent the majority of my social work career working in the field of child welfare as a child care worker, a clinician, a supervisor, an administrator and a consultant. My recent work has been focused primarily on helping school systems throughout Massachusetts increase their capacity to provide appropriate social, clinical and educational services for families and their children who are struggling with emotional and behavioral challenges. I continue to provide professional development and consultation for clinicians, teachers, and administrators, with an emphasis on empowerment practices and cultural responsiveness. In addition, I maintain a private practice, working primarily with adolescents.
