Eric Poulin
Assistant Professor of Practice and Coordinator, SLIS West
Eric Poulin, Assistant Professor of Practice at SLIS, was hired as Coordinator of SLIS West in Spring 2017. Poulin holds a bachelor's in communication studies from the University of Massachusetts and a master's in library and information science from the University of Rhode Island. Prior to his full time appointment at Simmons, Poulin was the coordinator of library services at Greenfield Community College.
His professional interests include information literacy instruction, planning, and assessment, as well as advocating on behalf of small rural libraries. He has been very active in many statewide and regional organizations, having served as president of the Massachusetts Library Association, Western Massachusetts Regional Library System and the Western Massachusetts Library Advocates. He currently serves as an Expertise Director of the Massachusetts Library System, and is a member of the State Advisory Council on Libraries. He also publishes and presents regularly on the topic of baseball and its role in American culture.
Poulin is a lifelong resident of Easthampton, where he lives with his wife, Gabriela; their dog, Monte; and their cats, Paco, Wanda, and Bruno. His personal interests include being a struggling songwriter, watching English football, playing tennis, and living and dying with the day-to-day trials and tribulations of the Boston Red Sox.
