About Me

Diane brings to Simmons 20+ years of experience as a social worker in a range of practice settings. She currently serves as an Assistant Director of Field Education, is a member of the editorial staff for the online journal The Field Educator, and co-facilitates the Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) for new field supervisors.  Previously she was the Assistant Director of Social Work Field Education at Wheelock College and an Instructor of Social Work teaching undergraduate and graduate field education seminars. Before her positions in higher education, Diane held a variety of senior leadership and direct practice positions at Big Sister Association of Greater Boston. Among her many roles at Big Sister, the most gratifying was that of Field Instructor for several schools of social work; Diane recognized how much she enjoyed working with social work interns as they developed their professional identity. While a staff social worker at Family and Children’s Service of Greater Lynn she provided clinical services to individuals, groups, and families across the lifespan.

Diane has acted as a consultant to local non-profits focusing on services related to group work, clinical supervision and performance management. She has also presented workshops on mentoring, social group work and gender responsive programming both locally and nationally. She earned her MSW from the Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare and is a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) in the state of Massachusetts.
