Anima Adjepong is a black queer diaspora scholar and Assistant Professor of Sociology at Simmons University. They received their PhD from The University of Texas at Austin with concentrations in Black Studies and Women's and Gender Studies and their A.B. in Comparative Literature from Princeton University. Adjepong's multidisciplinary training informs their research on culture, identity, and black diaspora. Their research considers the cultural politics of Africans through a focus on sports, arts, and other popular cultural practices. Their published work appears in edited books and peer-reviewed journals including The International Review for the Sociology of Sport, Ethnic and Racial Studies, and Ethnography. At Simmons Adjepong teaches introduction to sociology, sociology of sports, inequalities, and a Boston course.
