Matthew O'Rourke

Assistant Professor of Practice and Assistant Director of DPT Clinical Education

Throughout my life I have always had an affinity for athletics. Previously I was involved as a participant, and currently as a fan. This has fueled a passion for movement, function, rehabilitation, and recovery. I graduated from the Simmons University Physical Therapy program in 2014. I have worked as a lab instructor and adjunct faculty member at Simmons University since 2015, being involved in Advanced Human Anatomy, Advanced Topics, and more recently the Musculoskeletal System I and II courses. I became a full-time faculty member in the Fall of 2022 and will be joining the Clinical Education team in addition to my teaching responsibilities. As a licensed physical therapist, I take pride in helping my patients regain function and facilitating their return to the aspects of life that they enjoy the most. As an educator, I strive to bridge the gap between education, evidence, and clinical care to provide students with the tools to best impact patients' lives. Additionally, as a member of the clinical education team, I can use my experience as a clinician and clinical instructor to help facilitate students being matched with clinical sites that will foster growth, enthusiasm, and refine their physical therapy skill set.
