Eileen McGee

About Me

Eileen M. McGee has been part of the Simmons faculty since 2003. She has many years of clinical practice in community health nursing, specializing in health care for homeless populations. Dr. McGee completed her doctoral degree at the Boston College School of Nursing. Her doctoral dissertation, “I’m Better for Having Known You” is a phenomenological investigation of the concept of self-transcendence. Dr. McGee serves as the program director for Nursing Administration master’s program at Longwood Medical Center and South Shore Hospital. She also teaches in the undergraduate nursing curriculum and advises Doctor of Nursing Practice students on their capstone projects. Her research interests include the coping with chronic illnesses, nursing faculty shortage, resilience, spirituality in nursing and substance abuse recovery strategies with homeless populations. 

Dr. McGee is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the Massachusetts Organization of Registered Nurses, and the National League for Nursing.
