KAREN WILLIAMS LECTURE SERIES SCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 18th
The annual Karen William Lecture is scheduled for November 18th
from 2:30-4:30 pm at the Boston Public Library's Dudley Branch.
Co-sponsored by the Boston Public Library, this year's theme, Stepping Out with Classical
Music Lecture is open to all and is free of
charge.

The MBLN BOOK AWARD applications
are available. This annual award is provided to a MLS candidate
who is a citizen of the United States of African American descent.
The award amount is $500. The deadline to send application and related

MASSACHUSETTS BLACK LIBRARIANS NETWORK HAS AN EVENT FOR BCALA

Boston was the site of the annual midwinter meeting of the American
Library Association in January 2005. The Massachusetts Black
Librarians Network, with support from BCALA-Connecticut and Amber
Books, hosted an evening of art, refreshments, entertainment, books
and conversation at the Museum of the National Center for Afro-American
Artists located in Roxbury, a historical Boston African American
neighborhood. Guest Speaker Melvin B. Miller, publisher of Boston’s African American weekly
newspaper, Bay State Banner, is pictured at the podium with Barry Gaither, Executive Director
