Barbara Ras Poetry Reading
Tuesday, February 20, 2007. 7:30-8:30 PM, Special Functions Room. Barbara Ras recently published One Hidden Stuff (Penguin), named one of the ten best books of 2006 by the San Antonio Express-News. Her first book, Bite Every Sorrow (LSU) won the Walt Whitman Award and the Kate Tufts Discovery Award. Ras's poems have appeared in Boulevard, American Scholar, Orion, The Massachusetts Review, The New Yorker, Georgia Review, TriQuarterly, and other magazines. She edited Costa Rica: A Traveler's Literary Companion, a collection of Costa Rican fiction in translation. Ras has taught in the Warren Wilson MFA Program for Writers and at workshops and conferences nationwide. She lives in San Antonio, Texas, where she directs Trinity University Press.
