What's a Mode? Quantitative Analysis and Reasoning

As a Dix Scholar, you will be taking courses across the breadth of Simmons' offerings.  This means that all of our graduates are prepared to enter or continue in the working world, having challenged their intellectual capacities and explored their interaction with their own culture, their natural environment, and their world.  Although a number of adult students come to Simmons with transfer credit fulfilling the modes, other students take them here at Simmons.

Today, we continue a monthly series on each of the Modes of Inquiry.  In August, you learned about Mode 2, Language, Literature, and Culture. This month, you'll learn about Mode 3, Quantitative Analysis and Reasoning.   In Mode 3 courses, you will enhance your ability to think systemically and logically, as well as gain tools and experience in solving problems that are numerical and logical in nature.

As admission counselors, we sometimes speak to adult students who have been out of school for awhile and are nervous about taking a math course. Although many math courses can fulfill Mode 3, there are over 15 courses offered!  This flexibility allows you to choose Mode 3 courses that are relevant to your personal and professional interests. Here is a small sampling of them:
