Diane E. Hammer is the Director of the Simmons College Institute for Leadership and Change (SILC), whose mission is to build relationships with community organizations that have a focused commitment to the development and advancement of women and girls from all cultural and economic backgrounds. As Director of SILC, Diane connects Simmons College to the community and the community to Simmons. She has over 22 years of direct administrative experience in higher education and is responsible for program planning, implementation and overall management of SILC programs, projects and activities. Diane is committed to social justice and uses her role at Simmons to forge collaborative, community partnerships.

Diane is an active member of the Girls' Coalition of Greater Boston, New England Women in Photography, and International Women's Day Boston Planning Group. She is former President of the Board of Directors of Primary Source, a non-profit center for multicultural and global education, and a former member of the Board of the Boston Women's Fund.

She has held previous positions at Simmons in the Office of the Manager of Residence, Departments of Graduate and Undergraduate Nursing, and Office of Alumnae Relations.

Diane has a master's degree in Communications Management from Simmons and a bachelor's degree in history from the State University of New York at Binghamton.
